A Power Point presentation of the work, life and era of a Rhode Island weaver who celebrated miniature overshot. Presentation will include a discussion of the theory of overshot and its many treadling possibilities, an explanation of the technique of name drafting, a review of Bertha Grey Hayes’ work and how it reflected the events of her era. Her approach to pattern development and exploration will also be covered. Miss Hayes was a contemporary of Atwater, Gallinger, Davison and Tidball and participated in early national weaving conferences with them. |
