Every weaving structure has its own peculiar characteristics and it can be fascinating to try combining these different qualities in a single warp. This workshop will focus on how to design such a warp starting with the possibilities offered by four harnesses and then moving to multi-harness options. This design challenge will be approached from two directions; one will combine different threadings side by side, the other will demonstrate how to change the structure from a single threading. By careful selection of pattern and texture it is possible to produce very distinct and visually interesting cloth. Combining structures can open up and exciting and fun new weaving challenge. |
