Workshop Tuition Grants
Once again, we are offering NEWS Tuition Grants for several multi-day Workshops. Tuition grants are available for the following:
- Tablet Band Incorporated Into Fabric (Inge Dam)
- Weaving In 3-D (Sarah Fortin)
- Jumpstart Vest (Daryl Lancaster)
- Boundweave (Tom Knisely)
- Beyond 101 or Beginning Tapestry 2 (Kathe Todd-Hooker)
- Beyond Beginning (Chris Hamel)
- Weaving the Navajo Way (Lynda Teller Pete)
- Beginning Weaving (Carol Birtwistle)
How To Apply
If you have received your enrollment confirmation for one of these workshops, you are eligible for a full Tuition Grant. This is not a need-based grant, nor do you need to be a master weaver. Simply be willing to share your Workshop experiences in an upcoming NEWSletter following the conference. To apply, prepare a brief statement of what you expect your workshop will do to broaden your personal weaving skills and/or repertoire.
Submit your application via the Tuition Grant Chair contact form. Enter your contact information and type or copy-and-paste your statement of interest into the “Your Message” field.
Please respond by Friday, May 12, 2017.
One Tuition Grant will be awarded for each of the above Workshops, from all applications received by the deadline date. Recipients will be notified prior to the start of NEWS. Please note that Tuition Grants do not include Workshop materials fees, travel expenses, or conference room and board.
Sharing Your Workshop Experience
Following NEWS, Tuition Grant recipients will be asked to prepare a brief write up of their workshop experiences – inspiration to share with other weavers, particular skills or insight gained from the Workshop, plus one or more digital snapshots of your project. We can provide editorial suggestions for your recap. This information will be formatted for the NEWSletter and shared with the NEWS community through quarterly publications in 2017 and 2018.
Fifty percent of the Tuition Grant will be sent out shortly following NEWS and the remainder upon receipt of a write up for inclusion in the NEWSletter.
