Because of the credit card problem I am ending registration for the time being. All course selections will be cleared before we begin again. Registration will begin again on Sunday, February 19, at 2:00 pm. Any payments that did go through will be refunded. I apologize for the difficulties and the frustration. Members of NEWS member guilds should by now have received the Registration Brochure via US mail. A .pdf version is available here. Please note that the Registration Brochure went to press with a few errors; see the errata sheet for details.
Online registration begins promptly at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2017. The online application is easy to use and it will show you in real time which classes are available. Online registration will end at 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 8. The online registration system also allows you to modify your selections at any time until registration is closed on July 8. You can change your class, housing, and meal selections as desired, subject to availability, individual class restrictions, and our deadlines to give final numbers for meals and housing to Smith 15 days in advance.
We encourage you to use the online registration system, but if you choose to use the mail-in registration form, it must be postmarked on or before February 11, 2017 to be treated equally as a first day registration. Please note that mail-in registrations do not have precedence over online registrations. Instead, they are entered manually in the online system in random order, beginning at the same time as the online registration. You are much more likely to get your chosen classes by registering online. The last postmark date accepted will be July 5, 2017. Confirmation of receipt of your registration form and all other communication, including class assignments, will be by email if available, or, if necessary, hard copy sent via the postal service. Please do not send a self-addressed envelope or postcard with your mailed registration.
On-site registration will be available beginning Thursday, July 13th at 7:30 am in the Student Center.
Sign up promptly as classes tend to fill quickly.
Please note that the registration deadline for classes requiring a loom will be somewhat earlier than the general deadline. Specific dates will be posted as we finalize class details with our teachers.
Seminar registration is by half-day sessions, which are three hours long. Individual classes may be anywhere from one to six sessions long. The Beginning Weaving class, which lasts for 3 1⁄2 days, is a flat $285. All other classes are $65 per session.
Dorm housing is $40 per night.
Meals may be purchase either as a full meal plan (Thursday breakfast through Sunday lunch) for $155 or by the day for $45 (three meals on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday) or $25 (two meals on Sunday.) The Thursday Welcome BBQ is included in the meal plans for Thursday, or may be purchased separately for $25.
You can use a credit card or Paypal for the online system. Mail-in registrations must be accompanied by a
check or money order in U.S. funds.
Attendees who are not taking classes, such as teachers, vendors, teaching assistants, spouses, and NEWS Executive Board members, still need to register online or by mail if they are requesting housing or a meal pass.
The registrar must be notified in writing (email or hard copy) if you wish to cancel. Before May 15th there will be a charge of $50. After May 15th, refunds will be determined by the executive board based on circumstances of the cancellation. After July 1st, no refunds will be issued for housing and meal costs.
