Gallery and Fashion Information
All entries for the Gallery and Fashion shows must be pre-juried and submitted through a NEWS member guild. See your local guild representative for information about your guild’s procedures for jurying and delivering show entries.
Gallery Show
Weavers of all levels are encouraged to enter the NEWS Gallery Show. Each weaver may enter three pieces.
All entries must be pre-juried by a member guild of NEWS to be eligible for inclusion in the Gallery Show.
All pieces accepted for the show will be judged and eligible for awards including the Gallery Show Weaver of Distinction Award. Categories will be assigned after entry forms are received. In 2011, entry fees were $10.00 per item entered.
Entry forms must be mailed by the NEWS guild representative; individual entry forms will not be accepted.
Fashion Show and Exhibit
Items entered in the Fashion Show will be on display following the show.
Weavers of all levels are encouraged to enter. Each weaver may enter three pieces.
All entries must be pre-juried by the member guild prior to NEWS to be eligible for inclusion in the Fashion Show or Exhibit.
All pieces sent to NEWS will be judged and eligible for awards, including the Fashion Show Weaver of Distinction Award. Categories will be assigned after applications are received. Although a single accessory piece might not be modeled in the runway show (at the discretion of the fashion show committee), they will be included in the exhibit. In 2011, entry fees were $10.00 per item entered.
Entries must be mailed or given to the NEWS guild representatives, who have available all required application forms and information sheets.
All fashion entries must be delivered by guild reps. A required rehearsal for all models will be held before the Runway Fashion Show. Fashion show entrants will be required to model their entries themselves or to provide a model.
Informal Fashion Show
An informal fashion show will be held prior to the Runway Show. You are encouraged to wear and show your handwoven garments that have not been entered for judging.
